Narrative Assessment - Literacy - 2 Nov 2015

Learner:  Ella                    Learning Coach:  Miriam Kamsteeg            Date: 2 Nov 2015
Learning Area: Literacy - Writing
Learning Observed
Today Ella was writing with me. She was able to draw her brainstorm for her story and then begin writing. We had a discussion about the word, “Halloween” and that many Learners wanted to write about it, so I recorded it on the board for them. Ella and I talked about how to spell “Mission Heights”. We sounded it out and she wrote down the sounds she could hear.
Evidence of learning

Ella is recording down many of the sounds she hears in her words. She heard the “sh” sound in Mission! I wonder if she is practising writing at home?
Key Competencies/Vision Principles
Ella is continuing to improve her Capabilities in Writing. She was able to create a story in her head and then record it (Thinking). Ella was able to settle quickly to write a story by herself (Managing Self). She was able to use many different letters to record sounds (Using Language, Symbols and Texts).
Next Learning Steps
  • Write 2 or more sentences
  • Continue to record all the sounds she hears down
  • Share learning with home.
